Bulgarian Socialist Party flags
Members and supporters of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) gathered in Sofia on Friday, to honour the 72nd anniversary of the installation of the Fatherland Front government.
The event, celebrating a Soviet-led coup on September 9, 1944, started at the Monument of the Soviet Army and then moved to the Monument of the Unknown Soldier in the afternoon. Commemorators placed flowers and wreaths at the memorials, to honour the fallen soldiers. Some supporters of the socialist party brought BSP and Russian flags, others held up placards of Georgi Dimitrow, Joseph Stalin and Tsviatko Radoinov.
A protest event was also organised at Sveta Nedelya Square by the right-wing organisation ‘National Resistance’ to commemorate the victims of communism.
