Lithuania: Vilnius court finds former OMON commander guilty of war crimes

Former commander of the Soviet special police unit (OMON), Vladimir Razvodov, was found guilty in absentia of war crimes and crimes against humanity by the Lithuanian Court of Appeals in Vilnius, Tuesday.
Prosecutor Arvydas Valukevicius stated that “An international warrant for his arrest is issued. If he appears in any of EU countries, we will decide on his extradition.”
Razvodov is facing a 12 year imprisonment should the Lithuanian authorities be able to detain him. He must also compensate his victims €14,000 ($15,024).
Razvodov was part of a force sent in to resist Lithuania's push towards independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
