22.03.2016
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo organised a rally in front of Paris city hall, Tuesday, to pay tribute to the victims of the deadly bomb attacks that rocked Brussels earlier in the day.
Some 200 people attended the rally, which was heavily guarded by police. High profile politicians were present including French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault and the Belgian ambassador to France Vincent Mertens de Wilmars.
Earlier on Tuesday, at least 34 people were killed and more than 100 injured in bomb attacks carried out on Brussels international airport and the Maelbeek metro station. The attacks occurred just four days after Salah Abdeslam, a suspect in November's jihadist attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, was captured by Belgian police in Brussels. The so-called Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS, ISIL) has claimed responsibility for Tuesday's attacks.
