Queen Elizabeth was joined by other members of the royal family, British Prime Minister David Cameron and U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch to commemorate the 800-year anniversary of Magna Carta. The document, which means Great Charter, was signed between King John and his subjects on June 15, 1215. In a speech Monday at the very place where the document was originally signed, Cameron said the document had inspired Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and the Suffragettes, adding that there was a duty to safeguard the legacy and the idea of the charter.
