A Palestinian man who was attacked by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) three weeks ago gave an interview with the RT television network, which they released Monday, after he was set free from an Israeli detention centre. The man’s arrest was captured on camera, showing several IDF soldiers beating him with guns, kicking him in the head, and threatening him with stun grenades. Ansar Aasi told RT that on October 6, clashes broke out in the Israeli settlement of Besgot about three hundred metres away from the factory where the young man works. On hearing the violence, the man went outside where he was met by an IDF soldier who drew his gun on Aasi. "I stood still and raised my arms up to show that I am unarmed," the young man said, but he was then reportedly beaten up, without questioning or accusation. Despite explaining in Hebrew that he worked at the factory, the Israeli soldier insisted that the young man was throwing stones. According to the Aasi, he held on to an iron rod in a bid to escape arrest. More soldiers arrived at the scene, reportedly beating the young man and threatening him with sound and gas bombs. One of the soldiers used his gun to beat Aasi, who eventually let go of the road sign. He was then blindfolded and dragged to their camp where he was held for six days without charge.
