Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov participated in a meeting dedicated to combatting drug addiction, in Peschanoe, Crimea, on Tuesday.
Lavrov cited Russian President Vladimir Putin when underlining that "drug addiction is not only a threat to the life and health of many of our citizens, but it is also a threat to security." He explained that this was meant "in the broadest sense, considering the fact that the drug industry finances terrorism and other forms of organised crime all over the world."
As a result, Lavrov said, the Russian delegation at the UN "advocate for a firm adherence to all norms approved by anti-drug cooperation within three universal conventions." The issue of narcotics was discussed during a meeting of the seventh International Anti-drug Camp in Crimea’s Bakhchisaray District.
