After thousands poured onto the streets earlier in the day to take part in May Day demonstrations supporting Freddie Gray, around 50 protesters remained in defiance of the 22.00 curfew, Friday. At least ten people were arrested by police at Baltimore City Hall after the city's curfew came into effect, with officers using batons to disperse protesters from the lawn. Earlier on, thousands of people marched to City Hall, chanting "All night, all day we will fight for Freddie Gray". On Friday it was also announced that six officers involved in Gray's case were suspended and arrested with charges ranging from second-degree murder to assault. The protests in Baltimore started on Monday, just hours after the funeral of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, who died in police custody on April 19, 2015. Gray's family say he suffered a severe spinal injury, that his voice box was crushed and his neck was snapped before he went into a coma and died. Police reports indicate that these injuries were sustained after his arrest. A state-of-emergency has also been declared in the city, imposing a 22.00 to 05.00 curfew, which will last for at least a week. The National Guard was also activated and have been dispatched to the area
