SOT, Protester: "The only aim of this assembly is to tell the British government how [in] Hong Kong we fear the rule of [the] Chinese government. Please terminate the Joint Declaration, which is already seriously breached by China. By using the power from the [inaudible] Convention on the Law of the city, as well as what is clearly written in the briefing paper, Hong Kong in 2019 of House of Commons. We would like to [have a] decision [on] Hong Kong's future, or even let Hong Kong re-join the Commonwealth, the same as all other British colonial. As a party to the Joint Declaration, British government has its responsibility and power to make sure Hong Kong people are living with freedom and democracy."
M/S Protesters *CUTAWAY*
SOT, Protester: "British have already stated the case of [inaudible] as a serious breach of the Joint Declaration in FC061D report on Hong Kong, 2016. And from the last six months, we can see the freedom and basic right of Hong Kong has been revoked by China. China is definitely breaching the Joint Declaration. Today is the day before the UK election, and also the 30th day that Hongkongers have protested outside of BCG Hong Kong. We are calling the immediate action of the British government after the new [inaudible]. We don't want any Hongkonger hurt or even lose their life on the way of pursuing freedom and democracy. We need the help of the British government."

Protesters were seen waving British flags and holding signs reading "End Joint Declaration, join Commonwealth Nation" and "Annul Joint Declaration."
"Please terminate the Joint Declaration, which is already seriously breached by China," said one of protesters on stage.
A petition listing the protesters' demands was reportedly given to a British Consulate representative before the rally.
The Sino-British Joint Declaration dates back to 1984 and was signed by then UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Chinese Premier Zhao Ziyang, who agreed on China resuming control over Hong Kong.
