Russia: Muscovites mourn children who lost their lives in deadly Karelia boat accident

Muscovites turned out to Russia’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to commemorate the 13 children who drowned in Saturday’s boating disaster on Lake Syamozero, in the Republic of Karelia, Monday.
Near the building, mourners and well-wishers brought flowers, toys and lit candles. A plaque was also placed at the make-shift memorial with the names of the children who perished.
A former mountaineering instructor was among those who came to the memorial, he said that the people who are to blame for the incident "must be held accountable for it."
Thirteen children drowned after two catamarans and one raft from a summer camp were caught in a storm on Lake Syamozero in Karelia on Saturday. In total, 51 people, including 47 children and four adults, were on board the vessels during the storm. One child is still missing and a search operation is underway.
According to Russia’s Investigative Committee, five people have been arrested so far, including the director of the Park-Hotel Syamozero where the children stayed.
