France: Fire breaks out in Calais during mass refugee camp eviction

2 25.10.2016 Инфо

A hut caught fire while bulldozers ripped through the 'Jungle' refugee camp in Calais, Tuesday, as the mass eviction of refugees from the site carried on into its second day.
A group of workers dismantled the unoccupied tents and shacks by hand amid a heavy police presence, as refugees continued to be forced out after French authorities ordered thousands of refugees and migrants to be evicted from the camp.
A major three day operation is due to clear the area after French President Francois Hollande gave a dismantling order for the refugee camp, where around 10,000 refugees and migrants were living. The erstwhile inhabitants will be relocated to some 300 different sites around the country.
