The Rapid Response Team of the Milan Carabinieri showed off the latest addition to their automobile fleet - a Lotus Evora - on the streets of Milan, Saturday.
Luca Necci, head of Milan's Rapid Response Team, stated that the primary use of the vehicle will be the transport of organs, to be used for transplantation in Lombardy region hospitals. "In particular, we receive requests from hospitals in the Lombardy region - Milan, Brescia, Bergamo, Varese - we deliver organs to other hospital across northern Italy," said Necci.
Speaking on the specifications, Necci said that the vehicle has a 3,500 cubic centimetre engine, is able to generate 350 horsepower, and has a top speed of 300 kilometres per hour (186mph).
Given the powerful specifications, "only a specially qualified person could be entrusted with this type of service, i.e. to drive this vehicle," said Necci.
