Europe is not doing enough to protect its borders, the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at the Global Security Conference in Bratislava on Friday, as he defended his proposed wall on the border with Serbia. The Hungarian Prime Minister - who was discussing migration with his counterparts Slovakia's Robert Fico and Czech Republic's Bohuslav Sobotka - also said that it is the responsibility of the state to defend the border, adding that countries within Europe cannot simply wait for a European solution. Orban was responding to a question posed to him based on an announcement made earlier in June that Hungary would close its border with Serbia, constructing a fence in order to prevent migrants crossing into the EU. Since the beginning of this year, over 50,000 undocumented migrants have reportedly crossed the border into Hungary, most of them reportedly starting their journey from Syria.
