Armenia: Lavrov meets FM Nalbandyanov in Yerevan

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandyanov in Yerevan, Wednesday. During the meeting, the ministers discussed issues of international development and cooperation. Lavrov stressed that apart from the economic and political aspects of cooperation, they are also developing cultural ties between the two countries, including the first Armenian-Russian Youth forum. Lavrov also confirmed that the final preparations are being made for the Armenian branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University. Against the background of deteriorating relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Lavrov stated that Russia does not in any way desire the escalation into a military conflict. Furthermore, Lavrov stated, Russia "are ready to fulfil all obligations under the advice of CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organisation)."
