Protesters burnt an Indian flag and an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jamrud, located in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Monday, in protest against a large scale deployment of Indian troops close to Pakistan's border along with threats against the country.
The deployment of Indian troops to the border comes after India's Home Minister Rajnath Singh threatened to "teach Pakistan a lesson," following an attack against an Indian military base in Uri, in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir, which left 17 Indian soldiers dead. Indian ministers also threatened to back militant groups in Pakistan's restive Baluchistan province, against the government.
Protesters, including uniformed soldiers of Pakistan's Frontier Constabulary, burnt the Indian flag as well as an effigy of the Indian Prime Minister. Similar anti-Indian protests took place in cities and towns around the country.
