Scores of demonstrators took to the streets of the German city of Halle on Wednesday to protest the upcoming eviction of a leftist arts centre called 'Hasi.'
The protesters marched through the city, carrying banners in support of the squat and chanting "Hasi must stay."
Around 700 police officers were reportedly deployed to clear the occupied building in Hafenstrasse 7. However, at the last moment the operation was cancelled due to legal problems.
"It means we haven't had any escalation here and it's good for all of us that things have got quiet for some time again. I'm relieved," Volker Kadler, the lawyer of the 'Hasi,' commented.
