Mexico: Migrant caravan tries to calm Tijuana's fears

Hundreds of migrants, mainly from Honduras, marched through the city of Mexicali on Monday to convey a message of peace to anti-migrant protesters in Tijuana.
The Central Americans sought to assuage their hosts' fears after some Tijuana residents expressed hostility towards the migrant caravan. "We want the people of Tijuana to calm down because the truth is that we are not aggressive," Jose Huesos stated.
An official of the Baja California government said an estimated 3,300 migrants had been stranded in the border town Mexicali for four days. That number is expected to rise with US border inspectors only processing around 100 asylum claims a day.
The border was also closed for a short period on Monday, as the US military bolstered border security along the frontier.
