Iran: Thousands mourn iconic director Abbas Kiarostami in Tehran in Tehran

Thousands of fans of iconic Iranian film director and photographer Abbas Kiarostami attended his funeral ceremony in Tehran, Sunday morning.
The coffin was carried by eight people, who moved through a large crowd who had gathered to say farewell to director. Mourners watched on as Kiarostami's remains passed by, many holding portraits of the auteur in tribute.
Abbas Kiarostami was an Iranian film director, screenwriter, photographer and film producer born in Tehran in 1940. He was involved in over forty films, including shorts and documentaries. He is considered to have played a considerate role in the Iranian New Wave scene, a Persian cinema movement started in the late 1960's.
