Head of the delegation of the Syrian opposition's High Negotiations Committee (HNC), Nasr al-Hariri, noted that the Syrian opposition was "seeking progress" in political and technical meetings with the UN, on the last day of the seventh round of intra-Syrian peace talks in Geneva, Friday.
Delivering a statement outside the Palace of Nations, Al-Hariri noted that during the seventh round of the talks his delegation had discussed all four baskets, which he said were "political transition, elections, constitutional issues and fighting terrorism," in a bid to create a "common position" with other opposition groups.
HNC chief negotiator went on to stress that there would be "no stability" and "no reconstruction of the country" without a political process, blaming Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for the "slow progress" in the political process, adding that "we should not close our eyes to the real reason of the slow progress in the political process, which is the regime of Bashar Assad."
Commenting on the conflict between several Arab states and Qatar, Al-Hariri expressed his confidence that the dispute had "no impact on the Syrian revolution" and expressed hope that the conflict would be resolved soon.
