Soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) gathered some 500m (1,600ft) away from a Turkish observation post near Morek, some 75km (46mi) north of the city of Homs, on Friday.
After making gains throughout militant-held pockets in Hama Province over the past 72 hours, Syrian State TV announced that the SAA had indeed moved into Morek, near to where the post is located.
Turkish Foreign Minister Melvut Cavasoglu said that the post would not be abandoned by Turkish forces.
"This morning the Syrian Arab Army moved towards Morek town and completely secured it and disassembled several mines and explosive devices," said an SAA officer.
Syrian-led military operations were resumed in Hama and Idlib provinces earlier this month after the SAA accused militants of failing to abide by the conditions of a ceasefire declared on August 1.
