The total number of coronavirus infection cases confirmed in Germany has risen to four, the German Health Ministry confirmed late on Tuesday, all of them are employees at the firm Webasto from Stockdorf, upper Bavaria.
Footage filmed on Wednesday show the headquarters of the company on lockdown, with vehicles of the infected employees being removed from the garage.
The three new patients are thought to be connected to the first case, which was confirmed on Monday, and thought to be infected from the recent visit of a Chinese coworker to the area.
The Chinese employee, a woman from Shanghai, reportedly started to feel sick on the flight home and then went for medical treatment in China where she was positively diagnosed with coronavirus, according to Dr Andreas Zapf, head of the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety.
Germany is the second European country after France to confirm its first case of coronavirus.
The total number of cases confirmed by China stands at 4,515, with 106 thought to have died from the disease.
The new strain of coronavirus has spread from China to other countries, including the US, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, Nepal, France and now Germany. Cases were also reported in Taiwan, Canada, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam.
