Hundreds of refugees who were refused access to a Germany-bound train at the Budapest Keleti railway station held a demonstration in front of the building, Sunday. Many of them chanted "Germany" as they protested. The refugees, many of whom come from Syria, said they were protesting because police would not let them board a train to Germany dispite having tickets. According to local media, several hundred migrants arrived at the Keleti railway station Sunday morning, joining others who had already gathered in the building. On August 21 Germany declared its suspension of the Dublin Regulation for Syrian refugees. The regulation states that migrants can only claim asylum in the country they first enter on EU territory; they could face deportation should they try any other country. However Germany is now permitting officers to process applications of Syrian asylum seekers even if they travelled through other countries first.
