At least 12 people were killed and around 200 were injured when a rebel group detonated three car bombs and used poisonous gas in the South-West Aleppo, Sana news reported on Thursday. The attacks were reportedly carried out in conjuncture, as the anti-government forces are attempting to break the government's siege of the city.
Numerous people were rushed to hospital to be treated for their injuries, with many at risk of suffocation due to gas inhalation, according to medical staff. However this could not be verified so far.
On the same day the capital’s university was shelled by opposition forces. At least one person died and several others were wounded, with some people reportedly suffering life-threatening injuries.
Russia and the Syrian government told opposition groups to leave Aleppo by Friday, saying that the safe corridors would be open until 19:00 local time (16:00 GMT) on that day. However the rebels have reportedly rejected the offer.
