Vit Jedlicka, the President and founder of the all-new micronation Liberland, was arrested by Croatian border police on Sunday. The incident occurred when Jedlicka was crossing into Liberland on foot. He has since been transferred to Beli Manastir, a town located on the eastern Croatian border. The archive footage shows Jedlicka declaring the state on April 15, 2015. The new 'country' exists in a seven square kilometre (2.7 square mile) radius on the Serbian border. On April 15, Jedlicka went to the area and erected several flags to mark the occasion. He believes the area of land, situated on the border between Serbia and Croatia, has been claimed by neither country. The action stems from Jedlicka's dissatisfaction with the "state" taking "more than half of what you earn" in taxes. He hopes the new country can follow the lead of tax havens such as Monaco and Liechtenstein. According to the official website for the self-proclaimed state, people can apply to become citizens so long as they respect private ownership and are not Communists or Nazis.
