A salon in Washington state doesn't simply specialize in cutting hair. At Sensa Salon in Seattle, hair clippings that would usually get swept up and thrown out are being re-purposed to be used in "hair booms," which are used to absorb oil after spills.
One of the salon's owners, Shawn Carlile said,"What most people don't know is that hair is fully recyclable."
Sensa recently aquired a certifcation from Greencircle Salons, an organization that equips salons in the U.S. and Canada to properly recycle clippings, foils, color tubes, plastics, paper and chemicals.
According to Greencircle, The average salon disposes of more than 1,800 pounds of these materials each year.
