22.09.2016
Around 250 rebel fighters laid down their arms in order to be granted amnesty in the al-Qadam neighbourhood of Damascus, Thursday. People were seen queuing to get the identification documents from the local authorities in exchange for their surrender.
According to Governor of Damascus Countryside Alaa Munir Ibrahim, those who were granted amnesty within the framework of amnesty decree No.15, will have their legal status settled so they can return to their lives as normal in the upcoming days.
According to the deal, which has been facilitated with the help of Russia, former rebel fighters can choose where to settle, contrary to the agreement being enacted in Homs where fighters are being evacuated specifically to al-Dara al-Kabira.
