One of Orlando's biggest LGBT clubs 'Parliament House' held a vigil for the victims of Sunday morning's mass shooting, after 50 people were left dead and scores injured during a gun attack on another Orlando LGBT club.
Mourners, many members of the LGBT community, came out to show their respects by saying a prayer for those who passed away and lighting candles. There were a large number of security forces personnel on site to guard the gathering as tensions remain high following the attack.
Fifty people were killed and 53 injured in a shooting at the LGBT nightclub 'Pulse' in Orlando, with Mayor Buddy Dyer confirming the numbers during a press briefing later in the day. The shooting is the deadliest attack in the US since 9/11.
Omar Siddiqui Mateen, a US citizen of Afghan descent living in Port St. Lucie, has been identified as the culprit in the attack on the LGBT nightclub 'Pulse'. He was killed during the SWAT operation at the club.
Mateen reportedly claimed links to the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) before carrying out the attack, but officials have stated that the militant group's relations with the individual could be tenuous.
