New 'True Detective' Season 2 Trailer Plays Up Gritty Tension

"Sometimes your worst self is your best self," Vince Vaughn says at the start of a new, minute-long True Detective second season trailer. It's the sort of "time is a flat circle" head-scratcher – though maybe not quite as profound – that made the first season of the series compulsory viewing.
True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto wrote all eight episodes of the second season, which will be set this time in Los Angeles. Farrell will play detective Ray Velcoro, alongside Taylor Kitsch, who will play a California Highway Patrolman. Vaughn is slated to portray a career criminal caught in the middle, as the officers entangle themselves in a very tense murder investigation.
