We found the money and it's your job, the local authorities, to master these funds in accordance with the law and the needs of people who expect it.” Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk expressed anger that funds allegedly allocated to the conflict-stricken regions in the east of the country were not being spent, during a statement in Kiev, Wednesday. The prime minister stated that the government had allegedly “found the money and it's your job, the local authorities, to master these funds in accordance with the law and the needs of people who expect it.” Yatsenyuk accused the Donetsk region of having received 150 million hryvnia (€6,270,220/$6,896,300) yet not having spent any of it. Next it was the Lugansk region, which invested a total of 15 million (€627,022/ $689,630) of the 150 million hryvnia (€6,270,220/$6,896,300) that it had received from Kiev. Other areas reportedly fared better regarding the allocation of funds, with Mariupol getting 10 million hryvnia (€462,804/$509,015) but only spending 60 percent of the money. Yatsenyuk instructed the heads of regional state administrations and local governments to take urgent measures to ensure the proper allocation for infrastructure renewal.
