Peshmerga fighters described the tensions between Kurds and other groups in Kirkuk on Sunday, as reports of Iraqi forces advancing on the city continued.
Fighter Wshyar Mohammed said that in the Turkmen neighbourhood of the city "a motorcycle with two men from Hashd Shabi [Shia Militia] on it" threw grenades at a Peshmerga civil defence office.
Another Peshmerga fighter, Mala Karim Shukur, said that they and Hashd Shabi have "good relation with some of them" despite the fact that some of them belong to "very bad groups".
Tensions between Peshmerga fighters and Iraqi forces have been brewing since Iraqi Kurds overwhelmingly voted for secession in a September 25 referendum that Baghdad rejected as illegal.
Kurdish Peshmerga forces took control of oil-rich Kirkuk after the Iraqi army fled a major offensive by the Islamic State in 2014.
