After weeks of violent clashes in the streets of the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince, protests took a musical turn, with a march described as 'carnival-like' on Sunday, as artists joined protesters, singing for President Jovenel Moise's resignation.
Protesters can be seen singing and dancing as they march past police in riot gear. Protesters plan to continue with this new demonstration style until October 18.
"We can't afford to send our kids to school and feed them. This is unacceptable," said one protester. "We demand Jovenel to resign and freedom for Haiti."
Haiti has been gripped by the fuel crisis since last year's collapse of the PetroCaribe agreement with Venezuela, which allowed Haiti along with other Caribbean countries to purchase subsidised fuel. Crippling shortages in September have triggered a massive anti-government movement since September.
