Indonesia: Indo Defence 2016 launches with ‘tank-boat’

Southeast Asia’s biggest conference on defence, aerospace and the naval industry, Indo Defence 2016, kicked off in Jakarta on Wednesday.
During the first day of the exhibition, Indonesian state-owned defence company PT Pindad presented its X-18 hybrid tank-boat, known as Antasena. Pindad’s commercial director Wijayanto explained that “Antasena is an 18-metre tank-boat. It’s a double hull catamaran with a very big gun, 105 millimeter,” and that the tank-boat will be able to withstand “40 knots speeds and it could operate in a very shallow waters.”
The Indo Defence exhibition is held biennially in the Indonesian capital. This year’s event will host around 750 companies from 55 countries, with more than 25,000 visitors expected. The expo concludes on November 5.
