El Salvador's Civil War Hero, Romero to Be Beatified

Huge crowds are gathering in El Salvador for the beatification of Oscar Romero, it is the last step before Archbishop Romero is declared a saint. The Roman Catholic archbishop was murdered during the 1980-1992 civil war. At least 250,000 people are expected to fill the streets of the capital for the ceremony. When the US-backed Salvadorean army was using death squads and torture to stop leftist revolutionaries from seizing power, he was not afraid to speak out in his weekly sermons.
