A plane from Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations touched down at Rostov-on-Don airport on Monday, making it the first aircraft to land on the site's runway following the FlyDubai crash on Saturday.
The EMERCOM plane successfully inspected the runway, before declaring it safe and re-opening it for civilian aviation. The first passenger plane to conduct a regular flight after the accident took off shortly after EMERCOM's tests.
A FlyDubai passenger Boeing travelling from Dubai crashed on landing at Rostov-on-Don Airport, early on Saturday morning, with all passengers and crew members reported dead. The Boeing 737 plane crashed due to poor visibility, reportedly landing 50 to 100 metres (164 to 328 feet) away from the runway on the second approach. All 55 passengers and the six crew members were killed in the crash. Four children were among those killed. Both black boxes were found and have already been delivered to Moscow for further examinations.
