US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland gave testimony in front of the US House of Representatives' impeachment inquiry into US President Donald Trump in Washington DC on Thursday.
Escorted by a police officer, Sondland was immediately surrounded by journalists upon his arrival, but refused to comment on his testimony. When asked why he found it important to attend the session, he said "it's always important to show up when Congress calls."
Trump is alleged to have asked Zelenskiy to find damaging information on the business dealings of Hunter Biden, the son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden during a phone call. Hunter Biden was on the board of a Ukrainian gas company between 2014 and 2019.
