Citizens headed to polling stations to vote in a key local election for Hamburg's regional assembly on Sunday.
Footage shows the city-state's current Mayor, the Social Democratic Party (SPD)'s Peter Tschentscher, joining citizens at a polling station where he cast his vote.
The mayor didn't venture to give his predictions but called the election an event "in which everyone has a say and not only a chosen few."
At the polling station, one citizen reflected on the recent far-right shooting in Hanau.
"A dark night came for Germany, and we all share the blame. We have to do everything we can so that this doesn't happen again. I just find it dreadful what happened in Hanau," said the voter.
Hamburg is currently governed by a coalition of the SPD and the Greens, both of which led the polling in the run up to Sunday's election.
