Forensic teams, army personnel and traffic police got to work at the bomb site near the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok, Tuesday following Monday's deadly blast at the Hindu site. Police officers and army personnel secured the area around the bomb site while investigators examined the area of the fatal explosion. Twenty-two people are confirmed dead and 123 injured after the bomb exploded at the shrine in central Bangkok. Police sources say they believe the bomb may have been attached to a motorbike in the Thai capital's busy Ratchaprasong shopping district. At least eight foreigners are among those killed. Bangkok police have reportedly confirmed that the bomb was an improvised explosive device comprising 3kg (6.6 lbs) of TNT stuffed inside a pipe. Police have also said that they had found and defused two similar bombs close by to the Erawan Shrine. According to Thai Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, the perpetrators intended to damage the economy and Thailand's tourism sector. So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
