Christofer Toumazou began his career developing low-power microchips for mobile phones. When a prosthetics company asked him to design an aural implant to rescue a deaf child’s hearing, he began applying his know-how to biomedical engineering. Now, the entrepreneur and professor of electrical engineering at the Imperial College London has come up with his most ingenious invention to date: a USB stick that decodes a patient’s DNA within minutes.
