Dublin closed its polling stations on Friday, after around 3.2 million Irish voters took part in world's first referendum on same-sex marriage. The outcome will decide whether marriage equality will be included in the constitution. Polling stations across Dublin opened their doors at 7am local time on Friday, with counting due to begin on Saturday morning. According to prior polls 60 to 75 percent are expected to vote 'Yes'. An estimated 60,000 eligible emigrants were encouraged to return to Ireland to take part in the referendum as a vote by post was not possible.
