A hearing in the case of Russian executive Alexander Korshunov was held at a court in Naples on Monday. Korshunov was detained in Italy last month under a US-issued arrest warrant accusing him of attempted economic espionage.
The hearing was aimed at establishing whether Korshunov could be released on parole, but was postponed until September 30 because the accused found mistakes in the procedure, according to media reports.
Korshunov is the head of business development of Russia's United Engine Corporation (UEC). He was arrested on August 30 at Naples airport, after the United States issued a warrant accusing him of attempting to steal industrial secrets.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova commented on the charges earlier in September, saying that Russia considers the US issuance of the international arrest warrant "a planned provocation."
