20.04.2016
Around 150 police officers participated in a large-scale anti-terror operation training on Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday morning at the Montparnasse train station Montparnasse in Paris.
Police, the National Gendarmerie intervention group (GIGN) and Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI) special forces corps practiced raiding trains, examining suspicious items, using drones and robots and neutralising armed criminals. The average time for implementation of each operation was around 20 minutes. Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve monitored the training and evaluated the results of the exercise.
It was the first time for GIGN held a training operation together with the BRI. The exercise was aimed to prepare police officers to the force major situations and prevent further terrorist attacks in light of the November 13 Paris terror attacks where 130 lost their lives.
