16.02.2019
Some 4,000 people gathered to protest outside the 55th Munich Security Conference (MSC) in the Bavarian capital on Saturday.
Demonstrators representing a diverse range of anti-war viewpoints rallied outside the Hotel Bayerischer Hof which has hosted the conference for the last 19 years.
Some protesters called for an end to German arms exports while others carried signs and banners calling for freedom for imprisoned Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov.
One demonstrator explained that they were there to express their support for the "Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics," adding that Europe "should not be blind" to what he described as the threat of "Ukrainian fascism, Ukrainian nationalism."
The MSC is held between February 15-17, where over 450 participant leaders in the fields of politics, business, academia and civil society will discuss current crises and future challenges.
