21.08.2016
A Lamborghini Diablo VT, previously owned by former World Heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman, was put up for auction in Monterey, Saturday, as part of the annual Concours d'Elegance car show at Pebble Beach.
The current owner of Foreman's Lamborghini Diablo VT, Paolo D'Acuto, expressed that the reserve was set at $300,000 (€264 912), which was not reached during the auction, meaning that the car would now go up for new bids.
D'Acuto noted that the car was "special," adding that the 97 1/2 Lamborghini Diablo Roadster was "a very limited production car" as a total of only 300 cars were produced between 1996 and 1999.
D'Acuto also said "this particular car is very unique." He elaborated that the car is "a winged elite" following Foreman's request to remove the aerodynamic rear wing spoiler.
The Lamborghini Diablo VT comes with some memorabilia items from Foreman's boxing life, such as autographed gloves, original ticket stubs from some of his most celebrated fights and a signed example of one of Foreman's trademark grills.
