30.07.2015
Sporting colourful wigs and big red noses, some 800 professional clowns paraded through Mexico City's streets on Wednesday, to thank the Lady of Guadalupe, the country's patron saint, for good health and work opportunities, The brightly dressed clowns marched a 2km (1.2 mile) route, singing, dancing and carrying pictures of the saint before attending mass at Basilica of Guadalupe. Mexico City join the march, which is now in its 27th year, as a way to thank their religious figure for favourable events happening in their lives. The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is the most-visited Catholic site in the world, near the hill where some believe the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin in 1531.
