SOT, Mukhtar Salhab, Hama governorate executive board member (Arabic): "Under the instructions from the Syrian government, Hama governorate is preparing to welcome internally displaced people and residents willing to move to secure areas away from unsafe ones. Of course, this requires a lot of preparations and this is what has been done as of this morning: the medical units, accommodation units and units of social services - all of them are now ready to receive people. And from here we call on everyone to leave unsafe areas for the safe zones because our country can accommodate everyone."

The Syrian government announced on Thursday the opening of a 'humanitarian corridor' in the city of Soran, in the northern countryside of Hama Province and on the extreme South of the militant-controlled city of Idlib, to allow secure departure for civilians who wish to flee the region.
Footage shows government officials, buses and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) at the corridor working to guarantee a safe passage for the refugees.
The SAA resumed military operations in Hama and Idlib provinces earlier this month, accusing the militants of failing to abide by the conditions of a ceasefire declared on August 1.
According to the United Nations, the violence in the region has displaced at least 440,000 people.
