The Rock Island Auction (RIA) Company displayed Nazi leader Heinrich Himmler's JP Sauer pistol and Nazi Vice-Chancellor Herman Goering's personal Walther PP pistol, at its auction house in Rock Island, Illinois, on Thursday.
Goering's personal cuff links and ring, a Walther PP pistol used by the SS, a German MP40 submachine gun and Nazi Luttewaffen uniforms were also on display at the auction house.
Interactive Production Manager Joel Kolander stated that this display marked "a really interesting intersection between government and military" and the pistols were given to what were known as "sharp shooters," hence the inscription 'den sharpshootzen' found on the weapons.
The Walther PP pistol and Goering's cuff links and ring have been valued at between $250,000 (€220,000) and $400,000 (€355,000). The auction began on September 9 and will run until September 11.
