Clashes broke out between protesters and riot police in Madrid on Wednesday, as taxi-drivers began their third consecutive day of protest in the Spanish capital.
Protesters blockaded streets and set rubbish bins alight. Demonstrators also cut off the route to the airport and the venue of the International Tourism Trade Fair 'FITUR', which is taking place in the Spanish capital.
On Monday, taxi-drivers started an indefinite strike against ride-hailing VTC services, including Uber and Cabify. Tensions grew on Tuesday when a protester was badly injured by a vehicle reportedly carrying VTC plates.
Taxi drivers are protesting what they view as unfair competition from VTC ride-hailing apps that do not face the same regulations and taxes as they do.
According to VTC, at least 50 vehicles have been damaged in Madrid and 80 in Barcelona since the beginning of the strike.
