Julian Assange's Lawyer Jennifer Robinson commented on the current situation regarding Assange's protection by the Ecuadorian embassy and the state of his health while giving an interview from Barcelona on Thursday.
"While there has been widespread speculation in the past couple of months about whether he might be kicked out under the new Ecuadorian government that has been coming under increasing pressure around Julian's case, they have more recently said that they will continue that protection, but we are concerned, and remain concerned that anything could happen at any time, and of course the risk of extradition to the United States, which is the reason he is in the Embassy in the first place and is what this case has always been about, remain," Robinson said.
Commenting on Assange's health, Robinson said "the British government will not allow him to leave the embassy to seek medical treatment," and added "he's got a number of health conditions including his shoulder which is in incredible pain. He needs an MRI. That is not the sort of thing that you can bring into the embassy, and so his situation is very serious."
