Gazprom workers at a station in the Voronezh region began pumping gas from Russia to Ukraine after Kiev released a pre-payment for October and the Russian gas giant agreed to resume supplies on Monday. The Russian company announced it had received $234m (€205m) from Ukraine's national energy supplier Naftogaz for deliveries due in October. Kiev in return requested the delivery of 114m cubic meters of gas per day, the maximum volume Gazprom can supply. The transaction marks the resumption of gas exports from Russia to Ukraine after a three-month hiatus following the shut-off of supplies in July, due to a dispute over money owed to Gazprom by the Ukrainian government. The Russian company is now insisting that all deliveries are prepaid for.
