Russia: EMERCOM searches rubble after Leningrad Region firework factory blast

The Ministry of Emergency Situations was seen searching through the rubble of the Avangard firework factory in Gatchina, Russia’s Leningrad Region, on Friday following an explosion at the site.
The operational group of EMERCOM of Russia in the Leningrad region is working on the spot; an operational headquarters has been deployed.
Reportedly, two people were killed and at least three injured in the blast. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, one of the injured is in a serious condition and was hospitalised, two were sent home. The ministry also said that the explosion is not thought to have been caused deliberately.
The specific cause of the incident and information on those missing is being verified.
This factory is one of the largest manufacturers of pyrotechnics in Russia. It is a member of the Leningrad and St. Petersburg Chambers of Commerce and Industry. It employs more than 700 people, occupying an area of more than 23,000 square meters (247,570 square feet).
