"Well, as some colleagues say: 'let me speak from my heart' in Russian, before we start the meeting of the Government I need to introduce you to our colleagues, the old and the new ones."
Freshly appointed Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko was officially presented to members of the government by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow on Thursday.
Introducing a little levity into proceedings Medvedev paraphrased Mutko's most famous quote and said in English: "let me speak from my heart in Russian," before presenting Mutko to the cabinet.
Mutko had been addressing a meeting of FIFA Executive Committee in Zurich in December 2010 when he uttered his now catchphrase during Russia's successful bid for the 2016 World Cup. Then Sports Minister, Mutko started his speech with a noticeable Russian accent saying "Let me speak from my heart in English" for which he received applause.
Medvedev remarked that President Vladimir Putin backed his proposal to appoint Mutko to his new role overseeing sports, physical culture, tourism and youth policy. Also present in the meeting was Russia's new Sports Minister and former world champion fencer, Pavel Kolobkov.
